The era competing with “core” in cellphone has pasted, Qualcomm repeatedly stressed. Dr. Zhang Lu, director of mobile product at Marvell thinks, intelligent platform is no longer in the competition of the simple quantity of core but the improvement of multimedia’s graphics processing capacity, such as lighting, camera and other high-resolution image processing functions as well as the enhancement of motion safety function. In the future, LTE application will show deeper technology requirement.

“Overall, heading into next step, core competition will slow down; large screen, high frequency, multi-core become standard configuration, and increasingly more new technologies and trends appear in the field of mobile terminal,” said Liu Jitang, the vice president of technology sector in MedikTek. CPU is set to be another development direction of mobile chip; terminal ultrathin demand makes single chip integration be trend; battery’s endurance, data security will gain traction from end users; intelligent terminal tend to be diverse and combine with medical, automotive and other industry application.

The development trend of next-generation mobile terminal in hardware is showed as follows:
1. A variety of wireless and sensor technologies come out and become highlights; NFC and GPS navigation, indoor navigation popularizes with the maturity of business model and development environment; sensor technology sees diversity, promoting the gradual increase of output data, driven by high integration, more environmental friendliness, rich scenario and perfect human-computer interaction.

2. The combination of HKMG and other advanced technologies and chip design concept, the improvement of display power consumption as well as ultra-large-volume battery with wireless charging boost next-generation intelligent terminal to present low power consumption, long standby characteristics. In addition, memory capacity and rate continues to enhance; Camera 8M resolution is to be mainstream; LPDDR4, multi-screen wireless sharing technology, UFS will rise.

On the software side, Liu Jitang believe, will show the coexist of multiple operating systems; based on cloud storage and cloud computing, the mixed and interactive communication between high-definition audio and video as well as more realistic voice gradually become trend; safety application will further get access to users, who focus more on user experience and man-machine interactive interface. MediaTek and other chip platforms will add hot software application, streamline the design of terminal manufacturers and improve user experience.
