OLED and plasma display lines growing steadily
China’s OLED and plasma display industries have been expanding steadily in recent years. Mass manufacture in the country’s first production line for the former started last October.
This plant belongs to Beijing Visionox, the first OLED supplier there. It caters to domestic and foreign customers. Sichuan Changhong has likewise kicked off manufacture in its OLED facility, which has a yearly capacity of 12 million units.
Dongguan Anwell has invested $85 million in a plant estimated to have turned out 1.5 million 2.5in OLEDs in end-2009. In the plasma display sector, only Sichuan Changhong conducts mass production.
The maker released its first model in late 2008. It targets an annual capacity of 6 million 42in units by end-2011 to grab 17 percent of global output.
