New “Tether Check” App for Windows Makes Users Who Tether to a 3G/4G Mobile More Productive When Working Remotely.

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 8 September 2014

Millions of people use WiFi tethering, or “mobile hotspot” technology to allow laptops and tablets to access the Internet via their mobile phone’s internet connection.

However, many of these users are aware of the frustration of not knowing when their phone is in or out of reception. This is because the Windows built-in network icon only shows the status of the connection between the computer and the phone, and not the status of the connection between the phone and the Internet. Tether Check is the solution to this problem as it shows a desktop notification when the phone’s connection has been lost and again when it’s been restored.

Here is a scenario:

John is hard at work on his tethered laptop on a train to work. The train goes through a tunnel and suddenly loses reception. John gets no feedback on his desktop and is annoyed that his Internet search has stopped abruptly. He doesn’t know what’s wrong so he continuously hits the F5 key to refresh his browser until the connection comes back up. With Tether Check, it’s different. When John enters the tunnel, an unobtrusive alert appears in the corner of his Windows desktop telling him his tethered connection to the Internet is lost.

John switches to another task that doesn’t require Internet access and carries on with his work. The train exits the tunnel and John’s internet connection is restored. Tether Check detects this and notifies John that his connection is once again available, letting him get back to his internet searches.

Tether Check is an elegant solution to a very common problem. Bizmodeller explains: “We surveyed tethering laptop internet users. We found that their number one problem was suddenly losing reception and not knowing when it would come back. They wanted immediate feedback on their Windows Desktop to notify them when they could resume work something they get with Tether Check. Tether Check made people more productive and less stressed when working remotely.”

Compatible with virtually all mobile phones, “mi-fi’s”, 3G/4G dongles and other tethering devices, Tether Check is available now for most Windows operating systems and is free for a 14 day trial period. Learn more and download Tether Check from http://www.bizmodeller.com/TetherCheck.
