Intel Gives Up TV Chip Market Focusing On Cell Phones Flat

Without gaining market foothold, Intel will give up its efforts on processor chips used in television. Intel said, Intel plans to adjust the resources to focus on developing plate computer chips department. Intel will continue to provide chip for television set-top box manufacturer.

This is a business decision; Intel will take these resources for the company priority business. Intel decided to take engineer in the digital home group to emphasis on tablet computer, smart phones and new kind of laptop computers.

Through the exit of television market, Intel will partly exit the market that the chief executive Otellini tried to get into. Otellini had considered reducing Intel’s dependence on PC market. Intel won the largest cable company Comcast and some European television service provider of television set-top boxes orders, and provides SONY and Logitech technology production of Google TV equipment of the chip.

Although Intel processor accounted for more than 80% of the global PC market share, but Intel processor so far did not push the sales dramatically increase except, PC sales.

Industry insiders say, Intel hasn’t been able to provide a significant different chip to compete with the rival product performance, and it can’t persuade Samsung electronics and SONY TV manufacturers to use its chips.
