ATRS Recycling Set to Clean the Streets at Rock ‘N’ Roll San Antonio Marathon

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) November 20, 2014

American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS) is set to clean the streets of Alamo City on December 5-6th as approximately 46,000 attendees cheer on runners competing for the gold at Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon, Half, 10K, 5K and Relay races.

For the third year, ATRS volunteers will be decked out in their signature green fairy and elf mascot gear at the 3-day event to clear discarded warm up wear from the corrals and Start Line. Convenient carts will be located on either side of the course marked ROCK, RUN, RECYCLE. ATRS green team volunteers will also collect unused marathon swag, medals, non-perishables and snacks from the Finish Line. This will have a substantial impact in clearing unwanted textiles and other recyclable materials from the course and diverting them from San Antonio landfill. In this year alone ATRS Recycling has been able to recycle, reuse and repurpose over 30,000 lbs. of these materials from area landfills.

Runners, participants and spectators are urged to clean out their closets and drop off a bag of gently used, unwanted running gear, sneakers or other apparel at the ATRS Booth at the Health & Fitness Expo. Every item will be reused, redistributed or recycled to benefit area charity Center on Independent Living (COIL).

“ATRS is proud of our partnership with the Rock N Roll Marathon Series and the work we do together to keep our cities clean and green,” said David M. Peganyee, Sr. CEO and Founding President. “Runners can be confident that dropped cloth along the course and any donated materials at the Health & Fitness Expo will not only be kept out of the trash but will also raise funds for worthy local charities.”
