The Problems Blocking LED Lighting Popularization
As we all know, LED, based on the unparalleled energy-saving, environmental protection, long life, high controllability and other technology advantages, becomes the one of world’s most promising high-tech in recent years, officially unveiling the prelude of comprehensively replacing traditional lighting, and semiconductor lighting technology renewal is changing hundred-year traditional lighting history. With the application of LED technology in lighting field, LED lighting products lifts a green storm of energy-saving and environmental protection, and it is acclaimed as green lighting product. In the energy consumption increase today, someone even predicts: “in the next ten years, LED lighting products will be the only product replacing such traditional lighting products as high-pressure sodium lamps, incandescent lamps, fluorescent lamps, table lamps.” The popularization of LED luminaries not only poses requirements to price cutting, but also needs solve the problem of energy efficiency and reliability. Don’t use of the bipolar power devices
Experts point out some designers would use bipolar power devices to reduce the cost of LED driver, due to bipolar power devices being cheaper than MOSFET, usually about 2 cents per device; as a result, the reliability of the circuit suffers serious influence, because with LED drive circuit board temperature enhancing, the bipolar power device will rapidly shrink its effective working range, resulting in the failure when devices temperature rises, further having an impact on the reliability of LED lamps. Therefore, the right way is to choose MOSFET device whose service life is much longer than bipolar power device.
